Suspected poisonous Hemlock Water Dropwort encroaching on river edge

Reported via desktop in the Vegetation Encroachment category anonymously at 13:42, Wednesday 6 May 2026

Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later. Report ref: 9408936.

I am writing to report the suspected presence of Hemlock Water Dropwort (Oenanthe crocata) growing at the river edge near 10 Barnes Cray Road, Crayford, DA1 4NR.

This is not a routine vegetation issue. The plant is believed to be highly toxic and is located in a publicly accessible area, with potential exposure to children and pets. Given the severity of the risk, I would appreciate this being treated as a priority.

I would be grateful if you could arrange an urgent inspection and advise on appropriate action, including safe removal if confirmed.
