Request for Inspection and Pruning of Council Tree Overhanging Driveway
Reported via mobile in the Other Tree Related Issues category anonymously at 00:10, Wednesday 6 May 2026
Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later. Report ref: 9405721.
Dear Tree Management Team,
I am writing to report a council-owned tree located on the pavement outside my property which has become significantly overgrown and is now leaning and overhanging my driveway.
The tree is regularly depositing large amounts of sticky sap onto vehicles parked on the driveway. This is creating an ongoing nuisance and, if not removed promptly and properly, can damage vehicle paintwork and finishes, potentially leading to costly cleaning and repair work.
The overhang has now become excessive and is directly affecting the reasonable use and enjoyment of my property. Given the continued encroachment and the potential for property damage, I would ask that the council arrange for the tree to be inspected by a Tree Officer and appropriately pruned back from the driveway area.
I have attached photographs showing:
The extent of the overhang the position of the tree in relation to the driveway sap deposits affecting vehicles
As the issue is ongoing, I would appreciate confirmation that this report has been logged and details of any proposed inspection or maintenance timescale.
Kind regards,
Jasmin A

Following a review of your enquiry, we have determined that the matter does not currently exceed the councils threshold for immediate action, or there is no legal requirement to resolve at this time (for example, Tree issues such as leaf, fruit & seed fall, sap, bird and other wildlife issues, light & TV reception. Parks issues such as long grass which falls within the cutting intervals, bin emptying which falls within the scheduled frequency)
As such, we thank you for bringing this matter to our attention, but unfortunately there is no further action that the Council will take at this time. We will continue to monitor the situation and take the necessary steps if and when the issue does meet the Councils requirements for immediate attention.
State changed to: No further action
