Extremely poor road surface condition with potholes and debris
Reported via desktop in the Damaged road category anonymously at 19:58, Monday 19 January 2026
Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later. Report ref: 8723672.
Dear Sir / Madam, The road surface has significantly deteriorated here and is now clearly unsafe. There are widespread potholes, loose aggregate, exposed sub-layers, and standing water, indicating structural failure rather than minor surface defects. Temporary patch repairs are no longer an adequate or reasonable response and a complete resurface is necessary. The condition has worsened further due to ongoing construction at Little Birches. Frequent use by heavy construction vehicles and the repeated deposition of mud and rubble have accelerated surface breakdown, with no visible mitigation or remedial measures in place. This issue has been raised several times previously, yet no permanent solution or resurfacing plan has been communicated. Harland Avenue is a busy residential road serving families, school routes, and elderly residents. Leaving it in its current condition presents an ongoing safety risk and raises concerns regarding the authority’s duty of care. I request: 1. Confirmation of the most recent formal inspection 2. An explanation for the continued absence of a resurfacing decision 3. A clear timeline for full resurfacing, not temporary repairs I truely hope this request is reviewed and the much needed action is promptly taken in this matter. Yours sincerely. Regards.
