Lamp post was knocked over and removed
Reported via desktop in the Lamp post category anonymously at 12:51, Tue 31 December 2024
Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later. Report ref: 6915211.
On 16th December a motorists crashed into the lamppost outside my house, 86 Westwood Lane, DA16 2HH. Over the course of that week the damaged lamppost was removed and the ground filled in. As a result, the corner, which has seen a number of accidents over the years, is very dark. This is extremely dangerous to motorists, pedestrians and homeowners living on the bend. Please can you advise when the lamppost will be replaced as it is a serious hazard without sufficient lighting on the bend. I appreciate it has been the Christmas period but all residents living in this area are concerned with the lack of street lighting.

It’s been well over a month since I reported this issue and it’s no surprise to me that I have heard absolutely nothing. As stated, this bend is now very dangerous to pedestrians, motorists and homeowners and I would have expected a more urgent response to my initial email. This missing lamppost makes this bend far more dangerous than it needs to be and must be replaced as a matter of urgency. Please respond to this request.

The case has now been closed as our investigations have been completed and the necessary repairs arranged where it relates to items maintainable by Bexley. This may require replacement materials to be ordered or works needed by external agencies (such as UK Power Networks or Housing Association) which may then take up to 4 weeks.
Please let us know if the matter is not resolved after 4 weeks.
