Trees cut at back of my property

I'm not sure if this is vandalism or careless cutting of trees - I live at 167 old farm Ave and at the back as you will see it looks like a tree aid to help it grow has been chopped away and just thrown in hedge ?? Along with other trees and this has now created a gap where we were previously hidden from? Please could this explained or replaced with further shrubbery.
