Loose manhole cover front of 52 Gravel Hill B'Heath

Reported via desktop in the Manhole covers category anonymously at 15:24, Tue 25 June 2024

Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later. Report ref: 6153311.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Greetings of the Day!

I wish to bring to your attention that cover of a manhole on the road/part of highway A 207 in front of 52, Gravel Hill, Bexleyheath, DA6 7PS (near Halcot Avenue Bus Stop ( H ) has loosened out and has been making a loud clanging noise for the last over 1 month throughout 24 hrs. every time a car or Bus drives over it. Please note it is a running road with continuous heavy traffic flow round the clock, since it joins A2 and A223 and further down A220. It has not only been causing severe noise but has also been disturbing our sleep and has become in-tolerable. It sounds like we have been living next to the rail track and as if trains are passing without pause.

I thought your Maintenance Team would be carrying out periodic checks of the highway/roads and it should catch their attention. However, I regret it has not been taken notice of.

Could you kindly arrange to get the above remedied URGENTLY so that our sleep does not get disturbed/we don't wake up with every car run, besides stoppage of noise occurring whole day/night?

A line in confirmation shall be appreciated.
