Based on weather and ground conditions, grass cutting is a frequency-based contract, planned on a 28–35-day cycle during the growing season.
You will be aware of the recent high volume of rainfall; the grass is subsequently growing faster but is unsuitable for cutting and therefore the cycle is significantly interrupted.
It is worth noting that we are also deep into the grass flowering season, where grass species throw-up fast-growing flower heads. These flowering heads can grow at 4 times the rate of the actual leaves of the grass and given the programmed frequency of mowing (up to 35 day intervals), can make verges and sites look very untidy.
Your enquiry has been passed to a Grounds Officer.
