Very large broken branch hanging from tree potentially dangerous

Reported via desktop in the Grass category anonymously at 14:37, Tuesday 6 February 2024

Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later. Report ref: 5539229.

In the steeply dipped area of the Warren woodland adjacent to Broom Mead a large tree has fallen. One of its large branches has caught on another tree, broken off and is now hanging in that tree, it looks rather precarious and potentially dangerous, potentially lethal if it falls when someone is underneath. Although it is in a seldom used area of the park, children do sometimes play down there.

  • The large dangerous branch appears to have fallen now and the area is cordoned off with tape, it was hanging there for at least two weeks. with no apparent activity. I can't tell if the branch fell on its own, I think it may have because there is no obvious sign of work by tree surgeons other than the cordon tape which has suddenly appeared.
