Silver Birch tree chopped down
Reported via desktop in the Private property category anonymously at 16:51, Fri 10 November 2023
Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later. Report ref: 5197987.
Hello, I am enquiring whether permission was required for the people living in 37 Old Farm Place to chop down the silver birch tree in their garden. With the development of Old Farm Park, this was one of the few trees that remained and had been pollarded so it could remain in the garden. We were led to believe that the remaining trees would be protected and could not be cut down. This tree has been there for at least 25 years but suddenly since the property became occupied, it has become unhealthy and today was chopped down completely. I just wondered, as so many of the other original trees had gone, whether this tree was supposed to stay in situ and whether the owner had to get permission to chop the tree down.
