Tree needs pruning or pollarded

Reported via mobile in the Park / Open space category anonymously at 11:47, Mon 4 September 2023

Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later. Report ref: 4956400.

The tree outside my property is now so big it is touching my properties roof. The seeds and leaves are causing my gutters to not work efficiently and are causing the water to not run away and are running down the brickwork. The roots have grown so big it has damaged and caused the retaining wall to crumble and deteriorate considerably. It has caused cracks in the shared driveway over the years as it has been left even though my neighbour has complained numerous times previously. The tree is a runner from other trees in Frank's park and has now become a problem in my neighbours gardens at no 16 no17 and 17a it is taking over and I am worried that it is travelling so far that the drains and water supply is being damaged. We had the drive dug up by Thames water as the supply had moved and the soil had been eroded and broke the connection into the supply so we had water flowing down the road.

I like the tree as it houses numerous birds and squirrels however it is causing a bridge to my property for the squirrels which have damaged my property previously and has caused electrical fires inside my spare room and kitchen in previous years and cost me financially with removal if them and their nests and repairs to the roof.

I am disabled and no longer work and financially I am in difficulties so I am being distressed at the prospect of huge bills to my property again due to this tree and it's size now. When I moved here it only had 1 trunk it now has 3.

Please can you come and make an assessment and at least cut it right back as I do not think my insurance company will cover me in the coming years either which concerns me.

It has become a stressful problem that I can not stop worrying about and is effecting me mentally and physically.

I am struggling to keep onto of the leaf and seed fall due to my mobility issues and I am worried someone will fall and slip on the leaves both on the driveway and paths but on the pavement immediately outside I am no longer able to do it myself and need help sweeping and picking it all up. I have a brown bin for this purpose but I can not pick up the leaves and have started leaving the piles on the road which I know is not ideal but it is the best that I am able to do.

I thank you in advance and hope that you can appreciate my dilemma. The entrance to the woods it looking tatty too and this year I have not been able to maintain it myself due to my deterioration in my spine.

Thank you again for your assistance.
