This barrier is an obstruction on the Thames Path
Reported via desktop in the Other street furniture category anonymously at 07:35, Monday 6 February 2023
Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later. Report ref: 4206596.
The barrier was illegally cut down in September 2022, but as a result it was much easier for path users to pass through. I maintain the path on behalf of Sustrans so I need to get through with a trailer of tools and with the barrier removed this was much easier. The barrier was reinstated two weeks ago, so again I have to disconnect my trailer from my bike and, with some difficulty, manoeuvre it through. Long-distance cyclists laden with panniers also have to remove the panniers to get through the barrier. The barrier does not stop motorcyclists getting onto the path, because they ride over the bank from the adjoining field - their track shows clearly just along from the barrier. My point is that it is a shame the barrier was reinstated, because it inhibits legitimate use of the path but doesn't stop illegitimate use!
