No wheelchair access on pavement
Reported via desktop in the Obstructions on pavements and roads category anonymously at 15:42, Wed 6 July 2022
Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later. Report ref: 3655476.
There is an adverse camber on the pedestrian footpath at the junction between Old Forge Way and Rectory Lane in Sidcup, circled in Photo 1, on the left-hand side viewing Rectory Lane from Old Forge Way. This camber tends to tip pedestrians using wheelchairs into the highway. The footpath at this point further is obstructed by uneven kerbstones. It is not possible to cross the Rectory Lane onto the broader footpath because the view to the left is obstructed by a fence (Photo 1) and the view to the right is obstructed by foliage in front gardens on the far side of Rectory Lane (Photo 2). Motor vehicles pass this junction at relatively high speeds. It is not possible for wheelchair users to safely use this footpath, and for many wheelchair users to make a long detour to the right on Rectory Lane is search of a safe place to cross.
