EWOS & OXLEAS MEADOWS = complete lack of natural water all year round
Reported via desktop in the General Enquiry/Complaints category by Jenny Howard at 12:00, Saturday 2 July 2022
Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later. Report ref: 3641794.
On behalf of all the WILDLIFE in EWOS, I want to thank Bexley Council workers for what they`ve done since I last visited. It`s beautiful now! - BUT, - with all the newly attracted INSECTS to the wild flowers -and the occasional HEDGEHOG who wanders in - or BIRD that lands to eat some INSECTS - WHERE IS THE NATURAL WATER, BEXLEY to sustain all this wildlife?? Would a pond, that did NOT keep drying out, be too much to ask for? So, please, please put in a natural water supply ie: a POND for the wildlife, Bexley! Doesn`t the Wogebourne river run underground, nearby?? Yes make it childproof, but make it accessible to hedgehogs, foxes, frogs, newt, birds, insects - PLEASE! I eagerly await your response. PART TWO: : OXLEAS WOODS & MEADOWS have zero water there to! Just one tap and one bowl near the cafe which larger birds have been seen to fight over who gets to drink first.!! Come on Bexley!! I can`t believe that NO-ONE there has thought about the deaths of dehydrated wildlife in the summer & winter! Global warming is coming to Bexley too!!!! Please reply soonest!
Thank you for your report.

26.7.22.. Since I last contacted you a lot of wildlife has died of dehydration. I have therefore been putting posters up around my local area in East Wickham & asking people to put out & keep topping up, dishes of water for our dehydrated wildlife including Hedgehogs which are my particular interest. Having spoken to many residents of East Wickham, I know there is a great deal of concern about the lack of water in any of our surrounding parks/open spaces for birds, insects, & hedgehogs - all of whom are noticeably declining in numbers round here. Please keep me posted. I hear a drought is forecast for August.
