Sad state of park and park equipment

Reported via mobile in the General Enquiry/Complaints category anonymously at 12:49, Sat 25 June 2022

Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later. Report ref: 3622548.

I wish to notify and complain about the sad state that the park by old manor way/manor way has been allowed to get to. There is a rubbish bin that has been vandalised and not repaired/replaced in over a year. Items of equipment are broken and not repaired as shown. The tarmac surface has cracked and failed in placed which also presents a danger to the many children that use the park. The jeep and large junior climbing frame/slide are filthy and green with mold and miss which is very unhygienic and totally unacceptable considering that young children have to use this equipment. Vegetation in the park has died and sadly not been replaced which has allowed a dusty and rocky and uneven verge to develop against the park boundary wall which also presents a danger and various trip hazards. I really am disgusted and saddened that this park, which is so vital and used by many local families had been allowed to fall into such a sad state of disrepair. I can supply further photos if required and look forward to your reply in this regard. I hope that the park can be brought back into a welcoming state so that it can be used and enjoyed over the summer period

  • Please see above the photos showing the cracked and failed tarmac and dusty boundary that no longer has much hedgerow or vegetation left

  • I am very saddened at the lack of up keep of this park. Not only is there mould moss and grime covering the equipment but their is also racial graffiti which my children can read as 2 of them are trading age. I would never want my children to see or repeat these words. There is broken equipment with tape over it and each time I visit something else is broken. It needs a makeover and whole transformation as Is a lifeline to my homeschooling family and others in the area. It's small enough for children to be seen and kept safe unlike larger parks but I cannot take my children there now because of these issues. I would like a reposnce on this matter as on the next door app it is widely talked about.

  • Still open, via questionnaire, 20:50, Sat 23 July 2022

  • We live on the back of the park. The swing makes the most awful noise. Very very loud. To the point it is genuinely effecting my quality of life. Also teenagers are entering the park at all times of the night. Using the swing and therefor waking me. So not only do I have to hear it going all day but I can’t even escape it if a night time.

  • Sadly there has been no improvement made nor any communication provided by the council. Very disappointing.

    Still open, via questionnaire

  • Still no update or communication from the council and in the meantime the condition of the park has further deteriorated. Dead shrubbery( , as shown) has not been replaced which as we back onto the park means we have lost some security and now have footballs hitting the fence which have caused damage. Why can the vegetation not be maintained and the park boundary left to die and become a dusty uneven trip hazard? The playground surface condition is worsening and again has created further trip hazards as shown. How and why the park has been allowed to fall into this state is discussing. Especially given how many families depend and use this space on a regular basis. It should at least be safe, clean and all equipment of a working condition but sadly none of this is currently the case
