Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later. Report ref: 3396975.

On Tuesday 15 March I was driving down Days Lane from Halfway Street as driving an oncoming car was coming towards me as both cars were parked either side I had a small space that I pulled into. Whilst doing this the on coming car was driving towards me. On the opposite side of the road where a very damaged smart car was parked was a huge space for the on coming car to pull into. But instead was coming towards me. I couldn’t believe this behind me and the oncoming car was a queue of traffic. Whilst pulling into the space the oncoming car was practically touching my bonnet. This resulted in me not having enough space to turn into. I then hit a parked car. I have spoke to the car owner and was informed this had happened three times previously and is a constant problem on this part of Days Lane. The smart car parked on the roadside is most probably a right off. I often drive on this road and it is an ongoing problem and in my opinion a safety issue. I am most annoyed as a driver whom has held their license for over thirty years and having had my first accident has resulted in this not in my opinion being my fault. I have obviously contacted my insurance company. The B13 bus drives up and down this residential road and is often unable to so do without problems. As this road falls in the Bexley Borough I do believe the council should look into ways of residents being subject to having their cars damaged. Perhaps double yellow lines could be put in that stretch of the road to allow moving cars to pull in? I do not appreciate having to claim on my insurance when I feel as though it is not my fault. I am aware that the on coming car was at fault but unfortunately I did not take their details. This incident resulted in what was a wonderful day after taking my elderly mother out for her birthday and causing her to be very upset and shaken up. I do hope that the department looks into ways of solving this problem as I am sure I am not the only person who has contacted you with regards to this particular stretch of road. This accident took place in Days Lane, nearer to Halfway Street, before Norfolk Crescent and the beauty shop on the corner where the terrace houses are.

  • This damaged Smart car (WF65ZHJ) has been parked outside my house for nearly two weeks and there have been no efforts to move it. I note that the MOT expires today. The front bumper is hanging off into the road. It looks like a write off. Could the Council please sort this meter out.

  • This car has been abandoned for several weeks. MOT expired. It is now becoming dangerous as front bumper is blowing in the wind and should it come loose would be a danger to motorists. It needs removing ASAP before there is an accident.
