Tree blown over by storm 0n 18 Feb 2022 Report ref: 3323990.
Reported via desktop in the Obstructions on pavements and roads category anonymously at 11:00, Mon 7 March 2022
Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later. Report ref: 3368125.
On the 18 Feb I reported that a tree had been blown over in the location indicated and provided photographs. Later that day I communicated to you that with a team of neighbour's we had dragged the tree out of the road, to enable traffic to pass and also had trimmed it back to ensure it wasn't blocking the public pavement.
I wrote again to you a few days later to advise that the tree was blocking access to the garages and therefore cars couldn't pass to either enter or exit. As there was no action taken by BEXLEY taken then a few of us cut up the tree and disposed of it.
As of today we still have the stump of the tree sticking dangerously out of the ground right next of the pavement and if someone should trip on the uneven pavement that is close to this tree stump (note the issues with the uneven pavement has been reported to BEXLEY on numerous occasions over the past 3 years), they would certainly be seriously hurt.
Some immediate action to address this needs to be taken, note the tree was identified as dangerous and needing removal in December 2021, if this would have been acted on then the situation we have would't have occurred.

The tree that was blown over in the storms in late February was initially moved so as not to block the road and pavement by myself and neighbours and after no response from the council we have overtime cut the tree up and disposed of it though our fortnightly garden waste collection and a series of trips to the local tip.
The stump of the tree and uneven pavement around it remains a danger to residents and despite continually reporting this no action has been taken by the council

Regrettably there has been absolutely no action taken by the Council to address this and this is not acceptable given there is a risk to pedestrians.

Today we had the contractor appointed by our Council representative on our Street attending to trees. I asked if they would be able to address the issue / concerns we have had with the tree stump that us dangerously positioned on our grass verge, alas the response was that whilst they are aware of it they haven't been instructed to do anything.
The contractor looked at the issue and said he would call the council officer who provides work instructions to get permission to remove the tree stump however this wasn't provided.
What they did do is put some tape around it. I'm sure this will adequately warn someone who trips up on the uneven paving on our footpath what they may be about to impale themselves on.
It's disgusting that this issue cant be solved

Yesterday evening at around 18:00 someone attached a yellow notice to the trees outside our home saying “No Parking at any time. I would have expected to have also seen a notice explaining the reason for this and when the parking restrictions come into force.
I do hope there are works planned to address the issue we have had with uneven paving and a tree stump that need to be removed, however so advice as what and when would be of help.
Thank you
