Dog walkers with 12 dogs

Reported via mobile in the General Enquiry/Complaints category anonymously at 18:03, Wed 9 February 2022

Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later. Report ref: 3301362.

Today I tried to walk round east wickham open Space, entering wickham street side. 2 ‘professional’ dog walkers on the first field I counted 13 dogs of various size and breeds some on leads but majority off lead and being ignored by the 2 walkers who stood and talked with no regard to other park users as the dogs ran amock. Went to the back open space another ‘professional’ dog walker with 6 dogs again some on leads some not. It’s intimidating to have packs of dogs being poorly controlled and monitored. Other park users were clearly uncomfortable by the presence of these walkers and packs of dogs. This is most days, as a pack animal these dogs will believe that the park is theirs to protect and another animal or worse a child or person will be attacked by them. I know council officers cannot be in the park constantly but could enforcement not monitor at prime times 10am to 2pm for spot checks??? The law states you should not be walking more than 4 dogs at a time.

  • Please can you petrol this park and make it compulsory for dog owners to keep their dogs on a lead and to pick up their dog foul. My husband was bitten by a dog off a lead and had to go to hospital to get a tetanus injection. Today, I was knocked over on the foot-path by two huge dogs who were playing and have damaged leg severely.
