Where is the local road sweeper?
Reported via mobile in the Street cleaning and litter category anonymously at 17:58, Thu 27 January 2022
Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later. Report ref: 3271867.
Our street no longer gets swept! Why? There is NEVER a road sweeper to be seen. Capsules, masks, debris from bin collection are not collected. The residents do it themselves; why? Surrounding roads seem to be cleaned, not Hawthorn Road & Methuen Road. Can a regular schedule be arranged? We are near the broadway and litter is a BIG problem in the surrounding area.

This issue is far from fixed! Only yesterday I watched the road sweeper walk up Methuen Road, pick up a few bit and pieces, mainly tuffs of weeds along the wall, stop at the junction with Hawthorn Road look around for a couple of minutes then walk back down Methuen Road. Unbelievable! I didn’t approach him as I wanted to see what he was going to do without being asked. The only thing rubbish does in Hawthorn Road is get blown up and down it before a resident sticks it in their bin.

The problem has improved but residents are still having to clear up the debris due to the lack of a scheduled road sweeper on Hawthorn Road & Methuen Road.

With the close proximity to Albion Road and the Broadway, both Hawthorn Road & Methuen Road are constantly littered with rubbish which in the most part is left for the residents to clear up their section of pavement and road. There is debris in certain parts of Hawthorn Road which has literally been there for months!

Residents still regularly clear the kerbside. Not even our bins are collected now!

The road sweeper NEVER comes down Hawthorn Road or Methuen Road. My mistake he does walk down Methuen but doesn’t sweep up anything! It is a tip around the surrounding streets! Why do local residents need to clear up the streets we pay to be cleaned? The raised areas and grass verges are a disgrace!

Hawthorn is NEVER swept. The pictures attached show rubbish and debris which has accumulated over MONTHS. We never see a road sweeper on the sweeper cart around this area. Just look at the mess around here! Mind you they do park up for hours near the cenotaph.
