Hi, I would like to request, as a matter of urgent safety, double yellow lines on both sides of Redbourne drive stretching from St Mellions Close to St Andrews Close SE28 - an 40m S shaped part of the road - to prevent further road traffic collisions.
This S shaped stretch of road has been a near miss for head on collisions numerous times in recent weeks amd over the 5 years I have lived here. Often between cars, also between car and cyclist or car and scooter. Either I have witnessed this as a pedestrian or myself have been a driver or passenger in a vehicle involved.
This is because cars often park along the Left side (if facing North or facing the river) of the road all the way round the curve until it meets on St Andrews Close SE28. This dramatically obscures vision for drivers in both directions and forces drivers heading towards St Andrews Close to drive on the wrong side of the road.
There is a carpark for the flats which is accessed off St Andrews Close.
Today, I had a head on collision due to this as I was driving from St Andrews Close into Redbourn Drive. My driving speed was less than 20mph (the road curves prevent any higher speed). Both cars are significantly damaged as a result. A van was parked on my right (left side of the road if driving towards St Andrews Close) as well as other numerous vehicles along that stretch. This obsercured vision for the car approaching me and also blocked them from my sight. Due to the parked vehicles there was no-where for the car approaching me to move to avoid the collision.
This is a narrow stretch of road with 4 tight bends within 40m. To drive safely requires care with speed and maximum visibility of the road. Any parking along it greatly comprimises this and makes safely manoeuvring near impossible. It also requires drivers to drive in the wrong side of the road.
Please kindly consider. Many thanks
