Poor and broken lighting making it unsafe late at night, especially for women walking alone.

Reported via desktop in the Light in park or open space category by Matthew Lane at 15:59, Mon 22 November 2021

Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later. Report ref: 3137735.

Of the 4 street lights on the foot path from York Avenue to the footbridge, the 2 in the middle need attention. 1 of them has not been working for months and the other is covered by a tree, so it provides inadequate light. There is also no light on the actual bridge crossing. With the current national crisis of women feeling unsafe walking alone at night, this particular path are crossing requires immediate attention. Many of the female residents around York Avenue refuse to use this path and crossing, this is made worse by the longer winter nights now.

  • Broken lamp fixed but you have not addressed no lighting on the bridge itself. It’s pitch black at night time, dangerous and very threatening to elderly and female pedestrians.
