Constant rubbish on raised beds.
Reported via mobile in the Street cleaning and litter category anonymously at 11:40, Sun 26 September 2021
Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later. Report ref: 3025381.
I have just stopped and spoken to the road sweeper and asked why he hasn’t swept and cleared Methuen Road and Hawthorn Road of the litter strewn along the pavements, kerb sides, raised planted areas and grass verges and he told me it wasn’t his responsibility and he was only tasked with sweeping Albion Road, although he walked down Methuen. This part of Bexleyheath is disgusting, the amount of debris and litter dropped is increasing and nothing is being done about it! Who is responsible? It is not acceptable! You take our council tax and we get next to nothing in return!

Why do we no longer have a regular road sweeper on these streets in south Bexleyheath? We pay our council tax and sweep our own street!

Face masks, cans and bottles all along the raised bed area. Still no road sweeper to be seen. Residents sweeping the pavement and kerbside.

No! I stopped and asked the road sweeper again yesterday who reiterated that the raised beds were NOT his responsibility. When I asked who’s responsibility it was, he responded ask the council, so…….who is responsible?

Until this area is cleared regularly it will never be clean and safe. A specific office/division needs to take ownership, as the road sweepers are not doing the job.

The rubbish situation is a lot better but definitely needs to be kept on top of as pedestrians and youngsters handing about on the wall constantly dump their rubbish.
