Grass verges and Pavements.
Reported via desktop in the Street cleaning and litter category anonymously at 14:09, Tue 21 September 2021
Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later. Report ref: 3015825.
It's shocking to see the amount of litter, bottles and cans laying in the grass verges in Lime Grove, Sycamore Ave and Day's Lane. I have reported this several times on the phone and was told this was cleaned every four weeks. this is certainly not the case and I have never seen a road sweeper in Lime Grove in the year I have lived there. do we have a road sweeper who does this area? I have a car bumper in my grass verge 19a Lime Grove it cant be anyone's it's been there six months can this be removed please. Look Forward to your reply Kind Regards Dawn.

Thank you for sending the street sweeper round this morning. However, as the last photo taken immediately after shows, much of the detritus remains. Unfortunately, the area seems to be being used for the purpose of people getting a 'legal high' who simply discard their spent canisters by the box-load as well as alcohol cans, bottles and food waste, before leaving the scene. We need regular patrols by the team that deals with pavement and verge cleaning in addition to the street sweeper as due to its proximity to the high street and its fast food outlets the Sycamore Avenue/Lime Grove junction is popular with these individuals to round off their evenings. Can we expect this to happen?

Here are a couple more examples from the same junction - Sycamore and Lime - the first was what greeted me on my return home one evening and the other across the road in Sycamore. I wonder what the dangers are for children if their curiosity gets the better of them and want to investigate. Whilst the police are apparently unwilling to get involved with the use of these 'legal highs' one wonders about the consequences of the users driving off after ingesting a box or two of them accompanied by a couple of beers. If they finished up killing someone they may have cause to regret the lack of intervention. Just a thought.
