Rats & dead fish

Reported via desktop in the General Enquiry/Complaints category anonymously at 13:20, Saturday 3 April 2021

Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later

I was walking in Danson Park on Tuesday and walked over the bridge on the smaller end of the lake. Floating on the water were approximately ten dead fish also on the bank either side were a number of adult rats and on the other bank a number (6) of baby rats. This is the third or fourth time I have walked through the park and have seen the rats but this was the first time I had seen the dead fish. There were a number of children in the water some 30 - 40 yards further up the narrow part of the pond. As we know this can be extremely dangerous with the urine of rats causing some very serious deceases. There is a water pipe that comes out just under the bridge and this is where the rats ran into as we watched them.

  • There are a load of fish in the river by the small bridge but they can’t swim out because the river is blocked. If we have a drought all the fish will die.
