Beds/mattresses/rubbish dumped at the rear of houses 1-13 Florence Road

Reported via desktop in the Garage areas category anonymously at 15:43, Thu 31 December 2020

Sent to London Borough of Bexley less than a minute later

There is a large amount of rubbish including mattresses/beds dumped to the rear of the properties in Florence Road numbered 1-13 (inclusive).

Unfortunately, it seems as with a number of outgoing/incoming tenants of Abbey Rd, Fendyke Rd & Florence Rd their first action is to dump rubbish (see attached photos) in the rear access road to the garages. Please can you take action and remind them that fly tipping is against the law. There are waste disposal sites that they should use like most of us do. This is unsightly and causes obstruction when using the main purpose of vehicular access. As previously mentioned the dumping of old mattresses/beds encourages vermin to take residence within and there has been some instances recently of rats seen in the proximity.

Updates

  • Issue has not been addressed, if anything it has got worse and rodents have been spotted nesting in the bedding.

  • In actual fact there has been a couple more mattresses left there following another Tennant change. And with another on the way out it is likely more will appear which will make the access almost impassable.

  • The issue at the rear of number 1-5 seems to have been partially addressed (skip present), but those living at 7-13 seem to be totally ignoring the Council request to clear the rubbish and the issues it holds. In fact more old mattresses and other household items have been deposited. It is now becoming a very unpleasant and antisocial area to have to live near.

  • All of the unsightly rubbish has finally been cleared. Having said said house number 1 seems to be doing some renovations, probably to refurb and some small amount of rubble has been deposited to the rear of that property. Should it become a bigger issue I will raise a separate report.

Many thanks for all your help getting this issue addressed.
