The purpose of the red and white barriers alongside Belmont School is to provide a means for social distancing for the busy school periods, given that the width of the footway is quite narrow. The width of the road here is quite wide and allows scope for the barriers to occupy some of this space; further south on the road, just past the school markings, it is common for cars to be parked on this side of the road and which take up greater road width than the barriers recently installed. An independent safety audit, working with the area traffic police, has been completed and we will consider the need to make changes once the audit report if received.
