Two road wide cracks isolating and raising a section of road
Reported in the Damaged road category anonymously at 13:04, Thu 5 March 2020
Sent to London Borough of Bexley 1 minute later. Report ref: 2042138.
The road in front of my neighbour’s house at 80 Norman Road has two faults in it, which crosses the entire road. This has been developing for quite a while. When heavy vehicles, for example a skip lorry - one of which uses the road on a daily basis - crosses this fault it makes a jolt which shakes the surrounding houses and is very noticeable. My neighbour and I have talked about this on several occasions and are concerned at the possible damage this might be doing to the road and also our properties. It is reasonable to expect that if the road is not made good then the magnitude of the jolt will only increase. Could anything be done to repair this major fault?

The problem is still there but frankly in the current situation I didn't expect the council workers to roar around and start digging up the road. As long as it stays on the list to be done later in the year it's OK.

The fault in the road would appear to be slowly getting worse and sooner or later someone will hit it unexpectedly and damage their suspension. There must be some major subsidence involved and it needs investigating urgently.

I'm begining to wonder if this site is a sop to make us believe that something is being done when in fact nothing is happening. This and the other problem in the same area that I reported a could both be fixed in one hit if only someone would come and look at it. We need to see some action not just an update once a month. Action!

Someone has come and sprayed blue paint on elements of the problem area, but so far nothing else has happened. The vibrations caused by this subsidence is getting worse and is causing a crack to appearin my neighbours wall, and maybe other damage where we can't see it so obviously. This is now urgent. Rapid action is required.

First reported 7 months ago! And still not repaired! What is the point of this process if nothing happens.
This is and urgent problem that needs fixing before the winter, as it will inevitably get much worse much quicker if it isn't.

It gets worse as time passes. The whole house shakes if a large vehicle passes over it. Who knows what unseen damage is being done? It has been eight months and the council are " looking into it". This is not acceptable. By the time something is done, if it ever is, the problem will be much worse and probably more expensive to repair.
