Badly sited crossing point leading to parking problems

Reported in the Obstructions on pavements and roads category anonymously at 12:58, Thursday 5 March 2020

Sent to London Borough of Bexley 2 minutes later

Directly outside number 80 is a crossing place with a dropped curb. If my neighbour at number 80 parks his large pickup truck outside his own house, partially blocking this crossing place, he gets a parking ticket, so he parks further back which means that he partially blocks my drive, making it difficult or impossible to park on my own drive. This has been a problem since the road was 'redeveloped' some years ago. He is apologetic about this and says that he will move it if asked, but this is very inconvenient on my part and sometimes impossible. I have already damaged the rear wheel arch of my vehicle on his tow bar trying to turn in late one night when it would have been impossible to call him out as they were all asleep. So I am requesting that this crossing place be moved a fraction further up the road to allow him the space to pull forward enough to clear my drive, allowing me to park on my drive at any time. To my mind this could be achieved without moving all of the crossing place, just some elements.

  • This may seem a trivial problem but it is important to those of us living in this narrow street with parking space at a premium, and to my mind could be fixed relativly quickly and cheaply.

  • First reported 7 months ago! And still nothing has been done! What is the point of this process if nothing happens.

This would appear to be a quick and simple job to rectify, so can we have some action .

  • After eight months, I am begining to suspect that this site is nothing more than digital sop to the public to pretend that the council actually cares and is doing something.
